《竹炉山房图》纸本设色，纵115.5厘米，横35厘米。辽宁省博物馆藏。此图画山峦耸立，老树槎桠。叶竹围绕山房，生意昂然。右上角行书自题:南斋沈贞款，下钤白、朱文印二，沈贞的传世作品绝少，此图是在昆陵为馈赠普照法师而作，此图时代风格极为鲜明，与刘珏、杜琼诸家接近，从而得以探明沈周画风的出处，了解承前启后的脉络。

    本幅作者款识：“臣沈贞恭画”，下钤“臣沈贞”朱文方印、“恭画”白文方印。墨题：“紫阁元勳”。鉴藏玺钤“咸丰御览之宝”、“宣统御览之宝”。
    原图名《大学士一等诚谋英勇公阿桂像》。乾隆帝为表彰平定金川的阿桂等有功人员，于乾隆四十二年（1777年）初夏，在西苑紫光阁设宴款待西征的将士，并向他们颁赐赏物。对军功昭著者，还令宫廷画家郎世宁等为他们画肖像。画成后，乾隆帝亲自为指挥战斗的定西将军阿桂等50人制赞文，并将他们的画像悬挂于紫光阁内以昭示武功。此图是光绪朝宫廷画家沈贞依据紫光阁内的阿桂画像绘制的摹本。作者以精细的笔法，准确的造型，形神兼备地刻画出阿桂既儒雅睿智又不失骁勇顽强的将军霸气。
