宋懋晋(?—1620年后)明代画家。字明之,松江(今属上海市)人。幼见牧童躯牛,从壁上图之辄神似。既长,不乐为经生言,去而学画。穷日夜临摹古迹,从宋旭受业,参以宋、元遗法,富有丘壑,与赵左抗衡。其气韵间与刘珏相埒。仙山楼阁,位置得当,为时所称,深受董其昌、邹迪光等推重,为“松江派”名家之一。兼善写松,题跋尤奕奕有风韵。万历十三年(1585)作山水扇,泰昌元年(1620)作山水图。其《金陵廿四景》图册,现藏南京博物院。作于万历四十四年(1616)的《汉宫春晓图》扇面(藏上海博物馆)等。在笔墨运用上,宋懋晋既继承了传统的画法又有所创新,自成面目。据画史所记,宋懋晋之绘画“富有丘壑”,是指其山水画擅长构画名山大川。
宋懋晋(生卒年不详),字明之,一字明叔,松江(今属上海)人。他主要活动於明末万历、崇祯年间。长於山水画的创作,与赵左共同师从於山水画家宋旭门下。据传他幼而聪慧,早年见牧童赶牛,自己就在墙壁上画其景象,颇为神似。及长,不乐为经生言,遂去而习画。据《松江府志》记载:“宋懋晋,字明之,华享人。爱博涉,不乐为经生言,去而学画。日夜临摹古迹,师嘉兴宋旭,参以赵千里、黄子久遗法,胸有丘壑,自成一家。若仙山楼阁之属,经营位置莫能过也。懋晋风度潇洒,中无城府,善谈论,好吟咏,题跋尤工。”清·姜绍书《无声诗史》谓其画“法赵千里、吴仲圭、黄子久,而笔墨秀润,丘壑幽深。”宋氏绘画有着深厚的传统艺术格调,他曾经对前贤名迹广泛临摹,为最终成就其绘画风格奠定了坚实的基础,在当时深受推重,像董其昌这样的画坛魁首也对他的画作推崇倍致。
《千岩万壑图》卷,明,宋懋晋绘,绢本,设色,纵20cm,横480.7cm。
本幅卷末款署:“千岩万壑。宋懋晋。”下钤“明之父”印。鉴藏印有“范缵书画”等3方。卷前引首明末项圣谟篆书题:“溪山行旅”,卷后隔水处有收藏印“霍县王氏观沧阁珍藏书画印”。此图表现绵亘的山势,图中千岩万壑,高峰平台,丛林村舍,溪流飞泉,小桥渔舟以及行旅人等。
在笔墨运用上,画家既继承了传统的画法又有所创新,自成面目。该图笔墨秀润,山石用短披麻皴法以细笔勾皴,精微秀丽,以青绿烘染,明快清雅,生动地表现出江南山川郁茂之景色。据画史所记,宋懋晋之绘画“富有丘壑”,是指其山水画擅长构画名山大川,此图即可充分表现出其绘画的这一特点。
