1939年生于云南省昭通市，字默耕，斋号“问趣楼”。昭通市原美协主席、云南省美协理事、副研究员，云南省政协特聘画家。
其作品及艺术成就在大型专业美术报刊《国画家》、《美术报》、《中国书画报》、《中国书画收藏》、《中国书画报道》等有专题介绍。
2004年在北京中国美术馆举办个人画展，是云南画家继40年前的周霖之后个人进中国美术馆办展之第二人。先后扑澳门、俄罗斯、欧洲、美国等地举办展览或艺术考察。
国家艺术人才中心授予“德艺双馨书画家”荣誉称号。
