王林旭，教授，1959年6月出生于山东省平度县三堤乡三堤东村（现平度市灰埠镇三堤东村）。国家有突出贡献文化艺术专家、享受国务院特殊津贴，人文学博士，国家一级美术师，中国美术家协会会员，第九届、第十届全国政协委员，第十一届全国政协常委，中央民族大学副校长，民族文化宫副主任（正局级）、民族画院院长；兼任中国联合国协会理事、中国人民对外友好协会理事、中国韩国友好协会副会长，南开大学教授，美国加州州立大学人文学博士、名誉教授，联合国协会世界艺术家联盟会主席。
王林旭教授曾先后在国内外学术专刊、报纸、杂志上发表文章及绘画作品计500余幅。其作品被国内外美术馆、博物馆、总统府、首相官邸、联合国总部及国际组织收藏、陈列达300多件。出版专著有《王林旭墨竹画集》、《东方墨竹画集》、《中国美术史纲》、《中国文化史纲》、《中国画史述》和《东西方文化艺术比较学》等专著论文集10余部，在国内外大型画展及文化艺术交流活动中获大奖30多次。1995年在庆祝联合国成立50周年的活动中，联合国秘书长加利在全世界的艺术家中唯一选拔出王林旭创作的大型巨幅画《和平万年》作为联合国50周年的纪念作品，并作为文化艺术财富，永久收藏及陈列在联合国。加利秘书长因而授予王林旭教授为联合国和平使者，其画《和平万年》荣获世界和平奖章。1995年获新加坡国会颁发的新时代狮城艺术家金奖，其墨竹作品《年年繁荣、年年好》被新加坡滨海艺术中心收藏。1996年获法国政府颁发的《巴黎文化艺术金奖》。1998年获日本国《日中文化交流奖赏》。1999年获南非曼德拉国家独立艺术金质奖章。2002年获韩国釜山政府颁发的美术家金奖。2004年在韩国现代美术馆世界百名艺术家世界和平美术作品展上，其作品《和平万年》获金质奖赏。
