李明元，1937年2月出生，曾用名李明远，笔名东杰、沈生，斋号鹤语轩。满族，辽宁沈阳人。1956年毕业于沈阳东北美专附中，1960年毕业于沈阳鲁迅美术学院绘画系版画专业，从师朱鸣冈、路坦、陈尊三等著名画家。历任《上海电影》杂志美术编辑，上海市电影发行放映公司宣传科美工，中国煤矿文工团歌舞团舞美队美工，《大众电影》杂志社原高级美术编辑，副编审。中国美术家协会会员，中国电影家协会会员。
水彩画《工人叔叔快来了》1956年获辽宁省青年美展三等奖；木刻版画《首都红墙下》1962年作为中国的美术作品去阿尔巴亚展出，木刻《春迎朝鲜贵宾》1959年参加第四届全国版画展，木刻《童年》1963年入编《上海版画选集》、《今日北京一景》入载1982年12期《时代的报告》；连环画《小白旗的风波》1957年由辽宁画报社出版，《汉讲完的故事》1958年由辽宁画报社出版；幼儿读物《毛主席》（诗配画）1959年由辽宁美术出版社出版；中国画《松鹤图》获中国艺术界名人作品展示会素列大展优赏奖，《月下牡丹》入载《中国现代美术通鉴》。
