索铁生，1960年生于洛阳。现为中国美术家协会会员、洛阳市美协副主席、河南省国画家协会常务理事、河南省美协花鸟画艺委会委员、洛阳市美协工笔画艺委会主任、洛阳丝绸之路与大运河研究会副会长、洛阳金谷印社社长、洛阳画院副院长。
2000年《绣球花》入选中国美协主办“亚亨杯”全国美展；2001年《红衣脱尽芳心在》入选中国美协主办“国土情。民族魂”全国美展；2002年《金秋时节》入选“纪延”全国美展(河南展区银奖)。《荷花》入选中国美协主办的“全国第十六届新人新作展”。2004年《日上白头》入选“菜乡情”全国中国画提名展并获优秀奖。《石榴》入选中国美协主办的“中国首届写意画展”，河南省国画艺术展1—11届，并多次获奖。多次参加中国花鸟画邀请展，中国花鸟画展。
