Introduction in English

In 1870, the Boston Library of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology initiated the construction of the museum to exhibit their collections of art. On July 4, 1876, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the United States officially opened in Copley Square. The new museum was opened on November 15, 1909.

The Boston Museum of Fine Arts is famous for its collection of Oriental art. It now has more than 5,000 Chinese and Japanese paintings. Among them, there are quite a number of famous paintings in Song and Yuan Dynasty, such as Tang Zhangxuan's "Naming and Practicing Pictures", Song Dynasty copies, and Song Huizong's "Five-color Parrots" and so on. Other collections of paintings are also very rich, including the works of Greco, Venezuez, Titian, Dintoretto, Rousseau, Rembrandt, Rubens, Pusan, Chardin, Kulby, Manet, Degas, Watto, Renoir, Paul Cezanne and Van Gogh.

The Museum has 178 exhibition rooms in 9 departments: American decorative art and sculpture, Asian art, classical art, Egyptian and ancient Near East art, European decorative art and sculpture, painting art, printing, sketch and photograph, textile and 20th century art. Among them, the collection of Asian art works is the most abundant, comparable to the major art galleries in the world. There are not only bronze, ceramics, paintings, calligraphy, textiles, sculptures and other artistic treasures of up to 5000 years in China, Japan, Korea and other countries, such as the famous ancient Chinese painting Tang Yan's copy of "Diagrams of Emperors of All Dynasties", Song Huizong's imitation of Tang Zhangxuan's "Tampering Diagrams", Ming Zhanghong's "Diagrams of Songfeng in Juqu", but also Israelis in various parts of Asia. Treasures of Orchid, Hinduism and Buddhist art.

In 1981, the West Wing of the main building, designed by the famous architect I. M. Pei, was completed and opened.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts has a very rich collection, many of which are unique in the world. Exhibits are distributed by geographical location, and also by exhibit category. Geographically, there are Asian Pavilion, African Pavilion, American Pavilion, European Pavilion and so on. According to the categories of exhibits, there are classical art, musical instruments, contemporary art, European painting and so on. Because there are many pavilions and many exhibits, if you have to take a close look at each exhibit, it is to stay in the museum for three days, maybe you can't see all the exhibits. So it's only the local Bostonians who have a chance to taste every exhibit. For most tourists, they can only browse around or focus on the pavilions they are interested in.

Classical art is an important collection of the museum, including ancient Chinese painting and calligraphy, bronze, ceramics, sculpture, coins, precious stones, gold and silver, glass and so on. It also has the world's largest C. Monet Art Gallery besides France and the world's first-class 19th century American Art Museum. Its collection of ancient Egyptian kingdoms occupies an important position in the world. In 1927, the museum established an affiliated art school. In 1979, it opened a branch at the Farner Tower Mall in downtown Boston. The Museum regularly publishes the academic journal Art Museum Journal.

The entrance to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts was designed by Foster's and cost $10 million. This is the first time in 30 years that StateStreet has used the entrance with funding.

Fenway Entrance is a beautiful portico with pillars, located in the north of MFA. It was one of the original two main entrances, another facing Huntington Road, desgned by architect Guy Lowell in the museum master plan of 1907.

Foster's renovation project includes expanding the width of stairs, adding ramps on both sides, and using Kashima granite to match the color and texture of existing facades.

The supplementary landscape arrangement is the "Dayand Night" sculpture (completed in 2008). This is a pair of copper baby head sculptures, one with eyes open and one with eyes closed, designed by the famous Spanish modern artist Antonio Lpez Garca. Each sculpture is 8 feet tall and weighs 1.6 tons. They were recently moved from the Huntington entrance.

Senior insiders may have heard of Lustizi, a 16th century sculptor and one of Da Vinci's assistants. However, no matter how senior and professional, the chances of hearing Lustizi's next glazed terra-cotta work, St. John the Baptist, are close to zero, and the chances of having a chance to see it before January 24, 2007 are even slighter. This work has been in the hands of Tibetans for nearly 400 years, but only recently has it reappeared.

At this exhibition of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, there are many works similar to their fate, some of which have never been made public as a whole, and some of which have never been seen before by professional scholars, such as Donatello's "The Virgin of the Cloud" - lovely relief works, and Giambolagna's reputation as the world's first small figure copper. Like St. Joseph, a rare life-size 16th century marble sculpture in the United States. In addition to the obscure works, there are already voices in the exhibits.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts

Famous masterpieces, such as Antico's "Cleopatra bust", various materials of relief, as well as Luca Della Lubia, Feeso, Polano and other Italian sculpture history of famous names.

It is worth mentioning that because of the long history of exhibits, some of them have been sealed for a long time, so they are fixed, clean and preserved. It has become another point of view besides exhibits. Museums are very graphic this time, which challenges the limit of preservation of ancient works.

At the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in the United States, more than 1200 famous Chinese paintings were exhibited. According to statistics, there are more than 20 scroll paintings of Tang Dynasty lost to overseas national treasures. In addition, the volumes, poems, paintings, calligraphy and paintings collected in Cave 17 of Dunhuang went through the flourishing Tang Dynasty, the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties to the Northern Song Dynasty, with Britain and France as examples.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts

The largest collection. There are also 2300 lost scroll paintings in Song Dynasty, nearly 200 in Yuan Dynasty, more than 8000 famous paintings in Ming Dynasty and more than 120,000 in Qing Dynasty. The Museum mainly exhibits a few of the many exquisite paintings lost abroad. Through this exhibition, we can learn about the valuable value of national treasure paintings and the frustrating experience abroad.
