金申，北京人，回族，自幼习画、通文史。中国著名佛像文物鉴定专家、国学名家、禅画名家，任中国艺术研究院美术研究所教授。早年在日本研究佛教考古5年。归国后多年来，为国家文物局培训班、海内外高校授课；为国内外博物馆鉴定佛像；在佛教文化、考古、鉴定研究方面著述丰富，对禅意书画的中国传统文化传播成就斐然。

主要成就
金申自幼习画，精通文史。我国著名佛像文物鉴定专家、国学名家、禅画名家、文史学家。长期从事研究佛教文化，对于深刻的文化内涵感悟至深，宜于笔端颇见禅趣，艺术造诣颇深。提及当年的老师我国著名红学家、敦煌学家、佛学家、文史学家、收藏家、文物鉴定专家周绍良先生，金申感慨良多，“周先生是个温厚长者，宽于待人，他的博大胸襟和渊博学问，令我深受教益”。
历经我国文革时期，在内蒙古上山下乡期间，金申曾任美术教师、电影站放映员、美工。1973年考入内蒙古师范大学美术系，画名斐然。1987年远赴日本于东京艺术大学研究佛教考古专业5年。归国后多年来，为国家文物局培训班以及海内外高等院校讲授佛教文物考古专业课程，普及传播佛教文物考古专业以及佛教美术史文化；为国内外公私博物馆鉴定佛像文物。数年来，致力于佛教美术史和佛教图像学研究以及针对佛教文物鉴定方面研究著述；深厚的国学功底使其禅意书画韵味宛若天成。对佛教美术史、佛教图像学教育、文物鉴定、以及对于佛教文化的积累、整理和发展，书画艺术创作的收藏和禅意书画的中国传统文化传播成就斐然。
发表论著、挥毫之余，授课人大、民大、师大等高校，同时还长期担任央视《鉴宝》、《寻宝》节目专家鉴定团成员，熟悉《寻宝》的观众也会经常看到他的引经据典的点评，评估价值准确、断代有理有据，令观众折服。通过在全国范围内的长期鉴定实践，以及饱览世界各地佛教胜迹、以及对海内外博物馆馆藏的文物研究，为金申在佛教文化领域以及禅画领域取得卓越成就奠定基础。
