李建群，1968至1971年湖南长沙市第十二中学学习，1971至1978年长沙市调味品厂工人，1978至1982年湖南师范学院历史系学生，1982至1984年长沙市采食公司教育科教员，1984至1987年中央美术学院美术史系研究生，获硕士学位；1987至今中央美术院美术史系教师，其中1992-1993年，伦敦大学考陶尔美术学院访问学者，主修中世纪美术；2002．3～9，伦敦大学大学学院美术史系高访学者，主修英国美术史，西方女性艺术研究；现为中央美术学院美术史系教授，外国美术教研室教师，硕士研究生导师。主攻西方近现代美术史。讲授有《古典与唯美》《艺术史中的女性主义》《外国美术史》等课程。
