别名少芝，北京玉雕艺术家。北玉四杰（其他三杰为潘秉衡、何荣、刘德盈）之一。北京市人。十三岁随父王恩忠学画和家传“花片（玉佩一类作品）”技艺。他的作品，擅于“小中藏大”、“薄中显厚”、“平而反鼓”（即凸出来，具有立体感）。他的《玛瑙五鹅》作品，曾轰动玉器行业，成为誉满中外的俏色绝品。他不论琢制山水花鸟，还是塑造名人神佛，都注重特征，讲求神韵，不落俗套。琢玉五十多年，从未制作过同样作品。
1949年后曾在中央美术学院雕塑系学习，长期从事玉雕创作。1955年被评为玉器行业老艺人，并聘为工艺美术研究所研究员。一九七八年，在香港举办“中国工艺品、首饰展卖会”，他制作的《高绿翡翠龙凤福寿玉佩》珍品，轰动港澳和我国工艺美术界。
代表作品有：《高翠五福同喜玉佩》、《玛瑙屈子行吟》、《珊瑚观音渡海》和《松石韩湘子》、《群仙祝寿玉佩》、《群山瀑布玛瑙水胆》、《观音普度》等。现任北京玉器厂技术顾问、中国美协会员、北京工艺美术学会理事。一九七九年八月，在“全国工艺美术艺人、创作设计人员代表大会”上，被授予工艺美术家称号。一九八六年被北京市命名为特级工艺美术大师。
