杨辛,男,1922年5月生,重庆市人,中华美学学会顾问,中国东方文化研究会学术委员,山东省泰山世界遗产研究委员会泰山研究所名誉所长。中国书法家协会会员,中国美术家协会会员。

“美伴人生”,是杨辛先生艺术人生的真实写照,先生毕生研究美、创作美、传播美,以美引真,以美导善。杨辛是北京大学知名学者、美学家、书法家。他早年就读于北平艺术专科学校,师从徐悲鸿先生和董希文先生,新中国成立后,他调入北京大学,长期从事美学研究与教学工作。近几十年来,他大量研习书法,其书法作品强调自然之美,强调书法可兼具画意,风格独特,作品多次在国内外展出。自上个世纪七、八十年代起,又与泰山“结缘”,研究泰山,书写泰山,歌颂泰山,同时痴心荷梦,爱荷、写荷,致力于从学术研究和艺术鉴赏的角度发掘中华民族深厚的文化传统。
1956年调至北京大学哲学系,1959年以来长期从事美学教学和研究工作。曾任中华美学学会第一、二届常务理事、全国高等学校美学研究会副会长。1960年—1988年曾任北京大学哲学系美学教研室主任,1989—1990年曾任北京大学艺术教研室主任。长期从事美学的教学和研究工作。1992年国务院颁发对国家高等教育事业有突出贡献的表彰证书,并发给政府津贴。2008年中国美术家协会授予“卓有成就的美术史论家”奖。
作品《美学原理》(与甘霖合著)、《美学原理纲要》(与甘霖合著)、《杨辛独字书法艺术》、《师岱堂集墨—杨辛泰山诗书集》。另主编有《青年美育手册》、《青年美育新编》、《艺术赏[4]析概要》等。
主要论文有:《泰山的美学考察》、《徐悲鸿美学思想初探》、《美的本质和自由创造》等。
多次赴美国夏威夷大学、斯坦福大学、戴维斯大学、香港艺术学院等院校和日本东京亚洲美术会议上讲演、讲学。
