1957年生于河北沧州，自幼师从夏连雨（大型连环画《回民支队马本斋》作者）先生。先后毕业于河北工艺美术学校、河北师大美术学院、中国连环画、国画研究生创作班。研究生班期间，著名画家刘大为任班主任（刘大为现任中国美术家协会常务副主席），大梁任班长。曾受到贺友直、姜维朴、黄胄等名家指导。上研究生班时创作的连环画《陪衬人》、《车票》（发表于1989年、1990年《中国连环画》权威杂志）而有影响。对黄胄、刘大为画风技法掌握娴熟，后创作出了自己的独特风格，并发明两项专利技法用于自己的创作。2004年大型国画《改革开放举世瞩目》荣获“纪念邓小平诞辰一百周年”大型画展金奖提名奖。先后任沧州师范（泊师）美术教师，河北人口报、河北日报美术编辑、专业画家。现为徐悲鸿纪念馆、徐悲鸿艺术学院、中国书画家联谊会所属徐悲鸿国画室执行主任。梁秋生的书法自成一体，被北大方正收录为字库——大梁字体，其字体除舒同、启功、康有为、宋徽宗后的北大方正开发的第5款纯书法字体。
