胡安·格里斯(Juan Gris)生于马德里,逝于塞纳河畔布洛涅。菲泽·维克多利亚诺·贡扎莱(即胡安·格里斯)的父亲是卡斯蒂里亚人,母亲是安达西亚人。据其姐安多尼埃达讲,他在六、七岁时便显露出绘画天赋.不过,他一直在普通学校就读,最后才进了马德里美术与工艺学校。父亲的破产使他不得不靠给马德里幽默报约画漫画糊口。不久,他便随一位老画家莫尔诺·卡尔勃纳诺习画,完全致力于艺术了。他整天与作家、画家打交道,以胡安·格里斯作为笔名,

胡安·格里斯(Juan Gris)原名荷西·维克托里阿诺·冈萨雷斯(José-Victoriano González),1887年生于马德里,1927逝于塞纳河畔布洛涅。西班牙画家,是最早的立体派艺术家之一,以装饰性写实静物画和拼贴画而著称。与毕加索、勃拉克同为立体主义风格运动的三大支柱。代表作品有《棋盘》和《静物与模具》等

1887年3月23日出生于西班牙马德里一个富裕的商人家庭。父亲是卡斯蒂里亚人,母亲是安达西亚人。
1902年,进入马德里美术工艺学校学习。

1913年,开始在绘画颜料中混合沙与灰作画。
1916年进入建筑的构成时期,1919年以幽默风趣的“小丑”为题材,从事立体主义造型。
1920年,身患胸膜炎。
1920年以后,开始探索一种将形象进行简化、概括的方法,使他的抽象画庄重且富有情趣。
1923年—1924年,担任佳吉列夫芭蕾舞团的舞台和服装设计。
1924年5月15日,格里斯向巴黎大学哲学与科学研究组作了《绘画的可能性》报告,以法、德、西文发表,影响巨大。

1925年,他获得更大的成功,画出了一些最完美、明朗的作品。而他的身体却每况愈下。1925年赴土伦,1926年赴耶尔。但温和的气候也未能使他康复,高血压和哮喘都愈来愈重。他到达布杰·德尼也时,尿毒症发作,被送回巴黎,于1927年5月11日去世。

作品风格

胡安·格里斯是“立体主义绘画”画家。胡安·格里斯的绘画是立体主义的空间与文艺复兴的空间完美的结合。其画面的空间,是从立体主义的含糊性和多面性的结构,转向外部空间细部的稳定和清晰,这是用传统的文艺复兴式绘画的眼光所观察到的。格里斯是认识到这种双重观察方式的立体主义画家。

胡安·格里斯虽然不是立体主义的创业者,但他却是坚定的守护者。1906年,当胡安·格里斯初到巴黎时,正值毕加索与勃拉克开创的立体主义绘画崭露头角之机,对秩序感与几何形式的热爱,使得胡安·格里斯对立体主义一见倾心,并迅速成为其中的一员。发生于1909年至1914年左右的立体主义运动,则由毕加索、勃拉克、胡安·格里斯等人共同发起。他们将传统绘画中坚实体积的概念打破,将自然形体分解为种种几何切面。然后互相重叠,以块面表现出一种新的面体结构的造型语言。1912年开始,胡安·格里斯与毕加索等人放弃了分析立体主义的造型方法,转而使用一种全新的、在一幅画中使用多种材质反映、描绘物质世界的造型手段——拼贴,艺术史家将此阶段的艺术称之为综合立体主义。而后,毕加索与勃拉克又从综合立体主义回到了装饰风格,然而此时的两人开始迷茫、犹豫,不知道未来的路将何去何从。惟有胡安·格里斯仍坚定地恪守着综合立体主义的方向,坚持着自己独立的个人风格。
在胡安·格里斯看来,立体主义就是一种古典的精神状态。他坚持从同一视点出发,在固定的光源下塑造物体的明暗与体积;同样是对物体进行扭曲整合,但不同于毕加索与勃拉克的是,胡安·格里斯的画面表达更加条理清晰,具有更强的秩序感与规律性。其画作往往给人以明确且庄重的感觉。胡安·格里斯宗旨是:“绘画中的结构部分是数学与抽象的问题,我要赋予它人性化。”
与毕加索、勃拉克相比,胡安·格里斯的绘画色彩显得更纯粹、更响亮。胡安·格里斯认为“一幅画则是一种综合,就像所有建构是一种综合。平面且着色的建构即是绘画的技巧,是色彩与形的关系。”《吉他》(1913)是他的立体主义画作中色彩相当浓艳的一张油画。胡安·格里斯在这张画中仿佛直接从锡管中挤出颜料,橙、黄、蓝、绿、紫色组合极耀目、抢眼,然而晕染在轮廓边缘的象牙黑如同一支高性能的调和剂,压住了这些不协调因素。胡安·格里斯在此尽显了他的色彩天赋与控制高明度色彩的能力。整张画面因而显得统一明确、醒目响亮。
