2005年起兼任中国艺术研究院研究生院博士生导师。曾任《装饰》杂志主编、清华大学美术学院艺术史论系系主任、汕头大学长江艺术与设计学院常务副院长等职。

2006年美国康乃尔大学绘画与城市规划学院高级访问学者。现兼任教育部基础教育（美术）教材审查委员会委员，中国美术家协会理论委员会委员等职。曾获教育部、国务院学位委员会首届“全国优秀博士学位论文”奖、教育部第四届“高校青年教师奖”等奖项。主要著作有《中国工艺美学史》、《中国设计史》、《设计的善意》、《蝉声：一九九零年的记忆》（诗集）等；主编有《中国著名设计师学术访谈丛书》、《中国古代物质文化经典图说丛书》、《陈叔亮文集》等。

2006.11~2007.6 美国康奈尔大学艺术与建筑规划学院高级访问学者。

2008~2012清华大学美术学院副院长；现为中国美术学院院长助理，美术馆馆长，教授。

2015.10，任中国美术学院副院长。

 Born in Yiwu, Zhejiang in 1961. Doctor of Literature, Professor of China Academy of Fine Arts, Doctoral Tutor, Art Historian, Critic, Assistant Dean of China Academy of Fine Arts, Director of Art Museum, Professor. He was the editor-in-chief of Decoration Magazine, the director of the Department of Art History of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University, the executive Vice-Dean of Changjiang Art and Design College of Shantou University, and the Vice-Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University. In October 2015, he was appointed Vice President of China Academy of Fine Arts.

From July 2003 to July 2005, the deputy dean of Changjiang Art and Design College of Shantou University, who is the leader of fine arts, is a member of the academic committee of Shantou University, and a member of the Teaching Committee of Shantou University.

From July 2005 to today, Professor Doctoral Tutor, School of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University.

Since 2005, he has also been a doctoral tutor of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Art. He was the editor-in-chief of Decoration Magazine, the chairman of the Department of Art History, Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, and the executive vice-president of Changjiang Art and Design College, Shantou University.

Senior Visiting Scholar, School of Painting and Urban Planning, Cornell University, USA, 2006. He is also a member of the Basic Education (Fine Arts) Textbook Review Committee of the Ministry of Education, and a member of the Theoretical Committee of the Chinese Artists Association. He was awarded the first National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award by the Ministry of Education, the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, and the fourth Young Teachers Award by the Ministry of Education. The main works include History of Chinese Arts and Crafts Aesthetics, History of Chinese Design, Good Will of Design, Cicada Sound: Memory of 1990 (Poetry Collection), etc. The chief editors are Academic Interview Series of Famous Chinese Designers, Classic Picture and Talk Series of Ancient Chinese Material Culture, Collection of Works of Chen Shuliang, etc.
