古代的皇子，一般在14岁甚至更早的时候就要进行性启蒙教育。除了宫妇手把手教之外皇家对皇子的性教育还有蛮多招的，这篇文章为详细补充。过去，男人在新婚大喜入洞房后，也有三样美事儿：一是看春意，就是古人常说的春宫图、春画；再者读淫书，这里的淫书是一种读书人家常备的性启蒙读物；第三是听淫声，即所谓新娘子做爱时发出的叫床声。
"春画"，大概是中国古人进行性教育的一个创举，并为历代皇家采用。所谓春画，就是描绘男女各?
明人沈德符考证，春画在西汉时就出现了，发明者是因盗墓闻名的广川王刘去的儿子刘海阳。刘海阳与其父亲刘去一样，是位顶极好色之徒，整天淫乐，他令画师在房间四壁、天花板上将这些他所能看得到的地方，画上各种性交图，供其作乐时"欣赏"。此即沈德符在《万历野获编·玩具》（卷26）"春画"条所记，"春画之起，当始于汉广川王，画男女交接状于屋，召诸父姊妹饮，令仰视画。"
此后，春画由宫廷传至民间，"为民所用"。历代皇家亦都重视春画，视之为必不可缺的特殊的性教育工具。玩弄春画比较出名的皇帝有不少，如南朝齐东昏侯萧宝卷、隋炀帝杨广、唐高宗李治和皇后、大周皇后武则天。
这几位皇帝"看春意"显然不是启蒙性质了，而是滥淫。萧宝卷有位贵妃叫潘玉儿，因貌美受宠。萧宝卷也效法刘海阳，在新造的后宫墙壁上，画上各种春画，以备他与潘做爱时"参考学习"。杨广则又发扬光大，让画师将他与宫女做爱淫乐时的现场画出来，再现真实供其回味，这就是"乌铜屏故事"。
当然，最出名的还是李治与武则天。李治专门建造了一座供其幸御嫔妃的镜殿，把自己和妃子做爱时的场景画到墙上。结果臣子刘仁轨偶然一次进殿，被吓了一跳，以为有几个皇帝。李治死后，武则天则把此殿当成自己与面首寻欢的"夜总会"。元文人杨铁崖就此大发一通感慨："镜殿青春秘戏多，玉肌相照影相摹。六郎酣战明空笑，队队鸳鸯浴锦波。"
除春画启蒙，皇室还有一种特殊的性教育手法，使用性玩偶这些教具，让皇子"一看就懂"。沈德符根据所见所闻，记述如下--"余见内庭有欢喜佛，云自外国进者，又有云故元所遗者，两佛各璎珞严妆，互相抱持，两根凑合，有根可动，凡见数处。大档云，帝王大婚时，必先导。入此殿。礼拜毕，令抚摩隐处，默会交接之法，然后行合卺，盖虑睿禀之纯朴也。"
皇帝在大婚之前，会有专门师傅带他去看"欢喜佛"。在明朝，紫禁城中设有供奉欢喜佛的密室，密室中的欢喜佛是男女合一的佛像，表像时呈互相搂抱状。佛身上设有机关，按动机关，佛就开始做爱，变化出各种动作。初入佛殿，还要举行一个"仪式"，要给欢喜佛烧香、叩拜。之后，新婚皇帝才可以摸抓佛身的隐私处，习练动作。这之后才行"合卺礼"。
