扇页左上方自识：“一叶扁舟泛五湖，鸱夷妙策实吞吴。黄金铸像今何在，美我重摸此画图。吴文中。”钤“文中子”、“吴彬之印”。

画面上一叶扁舟随波逐流，船首一人正在垂钓，船舱里一位美妇探身相望。岸边柳绿花红，奇石碧草，水中还有一对鸳鸯游弋。根据画中题诗得知，吴彬此图描绘的是春秋时越国大夫范蠡功成身退，携美眷归隐五湖的故事。“五湖”是太湖的别称，“鸱夷”是范蠡归隐后所用的姓氏，范蠡的足智多谋与其成事后激流勇退的做法长期为后人所传诵。画家用细腻的笔触描绘出“只羡鸳鸯不羡仙”的生活，画面充满了抒情的意味。

The picture shows a boat drifting along with the waves. One of the boat's bows is fishing. A beautiful woman in the cabin leans forward and looks at each other. On the shore, willows are green, flowers are red, rocks are green and grass are green, and there is a pair of mandarin ducks swimming in the water. According to the poem inscribed in the painting, Wu Bin's picture depicts the story of Fan Ligong, a doctor of Yue State, who retired from the Wuhu Lake with his beautiful family in the Spring and Autumn Period. "Five lakes" is the nickname of Taihu Lake, and "Yuanyi" is Fan Li's surname after his retirement. Fan Li's resourcefulness and his brave retreat from the torrent after his death have long been recited by future generations. The painter's delicate brush strokes depict the life of "only envy the mandarin duck but not the immortal", and the picture is full of Lyric meaning.
