　　图中所绘为明宣宗朱瞻基在御园观看斗鹌鹑的场景。画面上朱瞻基居中端坐，周围有宦官、侍从和童仆侍奉。方桌上置一圆形围挡，两名宦官正在斗弄圈中的鹌鹑，旁边的侍从捧着笼子，其中是备用的鹌鹑。民间游戏以“斗蟋蟀”、“斗鸡”比较常见，此图别开生面地让后人见识了明代“斗鹌鹑”的情景。实际上朱瞻基最爱好的也是斗蟋蟀，其热衷的程度甚至让他得了个“促织（蟋蟀的别称）天子”的称号。

　　此图是对明代帝王宫廷生活的写实描绘。明代宫廷的纪实题材绘画留存并不很多，主角为宣宗朱瞻基的还有表现其出行游猎的《行乐图》和表现宫廷文体活动的《宫中行乐图》。

The picture shows Zhu Zhanji, Xuanzong of Ming Dynasty, watching quail fighting in the imperial garden. The picture shows Zhu Zhanji sitting in the middle, surrounded by eunuchs, attendants and child servants. A round fence was placed on the square table, and two eunuchs were fighting quails in circles. The attendants next to them were holding cages, including spare quails. Folk games such as "cricket fighting" and "cock fighting" are more common. This picture gives future generations a fresh insight into the situation of "quail fighting" in the Ming Dynasty. In fact, Zhu Zhanji's hobby is cricket fighting, and his enthusiasm has even earned him the title of "the son of heaven who promotes weaving (the nickname of cricket).

This picture is a realistic depiction of the life of the imperial court in the Ming Dynasty. The documentary paintings of the Ming Dynasty's Palace are not very much preserved. The protagonists are Xuanzong Zhu Zhanji, who also shows his traveling and hunting and the palace's literary and sports activities.
