本幅作者自题:“指头蘸墨肇自少司寇且园舅氏,古无有也。余稚时效之,舅氏每令代为之以作酬应,悉莫能辨。缘其污手则已。而画家宗派端不系此,是以追本去末,积之有年。有强之者,勉应之,此偶然耳。此其是也。李世倬。”后钤“世倬”、“天涛”、“幻中了幻”印,左下角钤“窗草盆鱼”印。
此画名为岁朝图。中国传统的农历春节为一年之始,故名“岁朝”。本幅通过童子将怀抱的花瓶进献给手持如意的老者的情景着新岁吉祥如意的开始。
整幅作品全用手指沾墨绘就,别有一种苍茫古雅的趣味。
