画幅左上款识:“舟移森木名园改,岸逐朱华翠盖浮。珍重复翁诗句好,特将残墨画山丘。壬寅上元日,以无声之诗作有声之画也。呵呵。西唐山人高翔题。”钤“蕉园”印。右下角鉴藏印钤“震斋珍藏”。
“壬寅”为清康熙六十一年(1722年)。“上元日”是正月十五元宵节。
“扬州画派”中高翔以善画山水享有盛名。此图是根据“复翁”之诗句创作的,描绘了画家理想中的隐居场所。画中山水秀丽,草木丛生,枝繁叶茂,苍翠欲滴,山中茅舍掩映其中,翠竹怀抱,以示主人高洁的品行。近处湖水清澈平静,游艇荡漾其间。船夫摇桨站在船尾,船篷内三位文人雅士相对而坐,赏景吟诗。
文人隐逸题材是元明文人画时常表现的题材。在高翔笔下,元明画中所表现的超尘脱世之感减弱了,显得真切写实。画中山水因受画家本人游历的影响而显示出扬州特有的秀润景致。在高翔的作品中,近取景的小品山水大多取材于家乡景物和本人生活的环境。
汪鋆的《扬州画苑录》中对高翔评道:“权法渐江,又参石涛之纵恣,亦善于折衷者。”“渐江”指清初画坛四僧中的弘仁。此图的山石勾勒简略,笔法简洁秀雅,略带方折,有弘仁笔意,但不同于弘仁的冷隽苍劲,而给人以清新、明秀、活泼之感。此外,画中的山石皴法较少,多以或浓或淡的线条直接画出,树叶或圈或点,用笔轻松随意,可以看出石涛的影响,只是将石涛的纵恣变成秀雅的韵致了。

Gao Xiang of the Yangzhou School of Painting is famous for his good landscape painting. This picture is based on the poem "Fuweng", which depicts the ideal place of seclusion of the painter. Painting Zhongshan beautiful water, bush, lush branches and leaves, green to drip, mountain cottage hidden among them, Cuizhu embrace, to show the noble character of the owner. Nearby, the lake was clear and calm, and the yacht was rippling in the meantime. The theme of literati seclusion is often expressed in literati paintings of Yuan and Ming Dynasties. In Gaoxiang's paintings, the sense of transcendence in Yuan and Ming paintings is weakened and realistic. The painting of Zhongshan Water shows the unique beautiful scenery of Yangzhou due to the influence of the artist's own travel. In Gaoxiang's works, most of the near-view works are based on the scenery of his hometown and the environment in which he lives.
In Wang Xin's Yangzhou Painting Garden Record, Gao Xiang was commented that "the power law is gradually advancing, and Shen Shitao's indulgence is also good at compromise." "Jianjiang" refers to Hongren, one of the four monks in the early Qing Dynasty. This picture is simple in outline, elegant in style, slightly square and folded, with Hongren's brushwork, but different from the cold and vigorous of Hongren, it gives people a fresh, bright and lively feeling. In addition, there are fewer methods of mountainous and stone chains in the paintings. Most of them are directly drawn with thick or light lines. Leaves or circles or dots can be easily drawn with pens. We can see the influence of Shi Tao. It only changes the vertical chains of Shi Tao into elegant charm.
